Yes the SOI is a perceived downside to investing in this company, but everything moves proportionately right? If the MC deserves another 20%, the SP will also move 20%. If the MC moves up by $1mil, the SP isn't going to go up by $1mil. We are looking at percentages and proportionate movement. Some companies reduce the SOI once they are well estsblished, but others take pride in their history and exist as they are. I could give plenty of examples where multi billion dollar companies have a similar share composition as VML.

I guess a consolidation could occur, but that would hopefully be when mining operations have commenced.

All in my opinion only.

Any negatives to consolidation? At times I've seen it as a way of "artificially" boosting the SP, leading to further CRs, etc. However, in no way am I an expert in this matter - more curious than anything.
