I can envision small battery charge packs that would offer customers an at home charge pack with an extra battery. I can see a timer charge function put on the unit to facilitate when the unit charges the spare battery. For example, set charge time between 10am and 3pm when the solar panels are working. For these smaller units, each bike should come with a spare battery for this purpose.
Rent a bike business' would do well to have spare battery charging stations for obvious reasons.
