That deal was one of the most desperate in recent years when AUS/US realized Australia was very exposed in protecting its trade routes in the region, For the moment a US nuclear submarine wandering around and possibly able to berth/resupply in Australia may do the job.
Better still is China becoming more mature in its relations in the region,,,,,that is my hope,
