i would rather bet money on someone who has failed atleast once then other teams who haven't even had the chance to fail because they haven't achieved anything in terms of production and major milestones (that achieve positive cash flow).

Elon musk and bill gates failed on multiple occasions, you need failure in order to succeed and JB knows what must be done in order to prevent the failures of the past.

He doesn't want to over pay for an asset(in this case a merger), it'll just repeat the failures at paladin and carry onto to VMY shareholders in the future.
