Most true shorters have hedging in place to cover an adverse move up , contrary to what you read on these forums " shorting " is not as simple as selling hoping buy back later at a lower price ( if you do your a gambler ) but rather a strategy than can be stock or sector specific and aways covered using some form of derivative to protect if the strategy goes wrong ( bit like a bookmaker offloading bets )
