Yes the market cap is irrational for Sky imo.
It looks like telcos are viewed much more favourably by Mr Market. No fear of Elon Musk providing internet to the world via satellite etc. Just good, solid businesses expected to be around and making loads of money for the foreseeable future according to their market caps.
So the solution is simple for Sky - become a fully fledged telco.
Vocus NZ is for sale. The combined entity (Sky Vocus) can afford a $500M - $600M loan to do the transaction.
I see no problem here. Only opportunity.
The two companies would benefit hugely from each other.
