I wonder if the new merged Vodafone / Hutchison company will be interested in taking out iinet. It would be a logical step if they wanted to bundle products to compete with Telstra and Optus. It would certainly leave them with a seat at the table in the national broadband network and be fitting to see the No3 Mobile and No3 ISP combined. I guess the synegies would be around billing, customer service and cross marketing. The more I think about it the more it makes sense, especially given they could probably pick up iinet by forgoing a bit of beer money. I wonder if Macquarie pay a spotters fee:)
