    you belittle traditional methods of compiling history. the Holy Bible was passed down verbally from rabbi to rabbi until writing was developed and even then so few had access to writing that illiteracy was extraordinarily common, widespread.

    first Aussies, similar to American, African, Pacific islands and many parts of Europe through to Asia had no literacy until just a couple of hundred years ago.

    they had no need of a wheel either.

    none of this makes their civilisations less moral or intelligent, rooted deeply in history, and communication across vast distances as well as across generations. far more effective;y than our white cultures whose collective hereditary records rely on paper. which for many cases were destroyed by the most natural enemy of paper. decay.

    y'know if it weren't for the Arabic culture Greek and Roman history, technology, science, history and philosophy would have been lost. the Arabs/Muslims kept Aristotle being studied and translated for 1,000 years before the Christians learned of him.
