Mak you may have experience but I think you are technically confused.
"Simplest solution at reasonable price (much cheaper than roaming call and data rates) is to buy a local SIM card and insert into your dual-SIM mobile phone"
-Where you will get dual-SIM mobile? You need to buy extra Dual-SIM mobile phones for everyone
-How many top smartphones are dual-SIM capble? None.Very few ordinary ones.
-Dual SIM defeat the purpose of 9-5 availability via roaming. e.g. while you are talking on local sim then your Int sim won't take call people will miss you and vice versa.
-Dual-SIM mobiles has technical uses and line drop-outs as it deals with 2 network prividers.
-Dual-SIM mobiles eat-up mobile batteries like cookie monster and no one will like them as they are generally ugly looking.
I do roaming setup almost every month with my staff. Roaming is set-up on someone's existing company mobiles before they go. I didn't hear anyone(colleague or friend) using dual-SIM while they are in overseas.
"You can have a VOIP system with a handset anywhere in the world as if you are right there in the office. Mobile calls can be diverted for a local call cost"
Mak I recently setup 93 offices with VOIP phone system where people use VOIP handsets and if unanswered calls are diverted to their mobiles.
My experience is VOIP handsets are not an alternative to mobile phones but they are additional support to reduce cost.
-They still need mobiles for communication security reason or Internet unavailability.
- They still need mobiles when line is busy due to internet data transfer or peak period
-They still need mobiles when they are out of office
-They still need mobiles when they are at home outside office hours
This is locally in NSW. So, imagine internationally how VOIP handsets can serve as alternative to mobiles? The answer is No.
"Companies are doing their own VOIP communication set-up and this is really happening."
Wrong. This is not happening because of cost-benefit analysis doesn't support it. Most cases, companies are reducing staff and moving way from managing their own to IT service providers.
MAK I admire your contribution but please stop behaving like only you know everything. Thank you in advance.
