Short and long of it Stormboy is that you are right - it is about the future demand for these things way outstripping supply. The logic of those who say we should stop doing things in order to reduce carbon emissions, completely escapes me. What will happen is that the world's population will continue to want increasingly comfortable lifestyles but this will have to be done without destroying the planet. Hence, carbon emission free and other non damaging power supplies (U308 and germanium backed solar) will increase in demand exponentially to fill both increased demand and the gap created by power no longer being generated from fossil fuels - copper, as an integral part of this, will follow, particularly if electric cars become the norm.

Day follows night, night follows day etc.
