NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Stocks seem set for a mixed open Tuesday as investors wait for the latest report on the condition of the real estate market.

Stock futures are higher Tuesday, but compared to fair value they're mixed.

The latest read on the housing market comes later this morning, with building permits and housing starts set for release at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Building permits for May are expected to come in at 1.95 million on an annual basis, according to Briefing.com. Housing starts are expected to register an annualized 1.87 million.

    Oil prices rose.

The July light crude futures contract for NYMEX gained 72 cents to $69.70 in electronic trading, while the August contract for Brent crude added 74 cents to $68.85.

Major markets closed mostly lower Monday in Asia, while major European markets also fell in early trade.

Treasury prices are flat, with the yield on the benchmark 10-year note at 5.13 percent. The dollar was lower against the yen and the euro.
