I watched the ABC News24 interview with the volcanologist and was cringing at the reluctance to say plainly that experts often detect little warning about the timing of big events.
IMHO developed from 60 years observing attempts by seismologists to predict earthquakes and volcanologists to predict eruptions I would have to conclude that planet earth usually surprises us way more often than we would like.
