Rakia, I will explain at bit where I am coming from here...

I have developed my own database and reports from it that highlight certain key financial ratio criteria and key technical signals - I get 'raw' technical and financial information at end of the day and update my database with this info, run a few processes to recalculate things I monitor etc... I am happy with this.

To keep a long story short... one of the key things I do is 'classify' a stock as they report financial results into 'categories' based on financial ratio calculations and comparisons to previous periods - ie classified as Turnaround, Growth continuation/acceleration, Quality - can be none or any one or all.

I then use technicals to highlight to WHEN to consider buying or adding to positions - ie volume picks up, 13 week ema crosses 26 week ema, retraces to 13/26 week ema, new 13/26/65 day high on above average volume etc...

I can tell you tonight for example which stocks in any of my 'categories' today (or any time span) have made new 13, 26 or 65 day highs and the volume is greater than say 40% above average 100 day volume. Same thing with retracements, crossovers etc...

What I am finding is that although a longer term trader at times you can miss a better entry point (especially on retracements and breakouts) if you can get this information DURING the day - and more importantly without me having to manually update watch lists - my watchlists are 'dynamic' based on my categorisation - ie watchlist creation is automated by the categorisations in my database - I don't want to fill my head with codes - I then just want a signal.

So... I want to be able to say at 11:00am, 11:30 am etc... run a report that might give me breakouts to new 26 day highs on high volume - RIGHT NOW! Same for retracements etc...

If I can get a text file with volume/price data in a SINGLE file then I can do this type of thing and don't have to keep changing codes in watchlists and go friggin' nuts and lose focus and miss good entries.
