Brokers "trade" for their clients - on behalf of their clients and the Algorithmic practices are used to move parcels without placing huge single orders.
While such practices maybe frowned upon by the small investor who assumes "manipulation" by the said Brokers ( with good reason, I might add), the same Brokers also work for the small investor.
