The price manipulation imo is for the big institutions to accumulate at low levels as they have a lot of funds and are able to hold till something happens to push share price and volume. Then when time comes for news volume increases sell to the small guys rushing in at a severely elevated share price to make a healthy profit. So then share market is the money transfer from the impatient to the patient.
