Does it make more sense if you look at it in the context of a post merger situation?
If the partners were planning a merger (behind the scenes), they would be putting together several scenarios of what they would be doing down the track (as a merged entity), not what they had in mind in 2019 when they were joint partners.
For this to suddenly emerge, means that this is a very new concept, perhaps one that BL did not agree with as he could see himself being sidelined post merger.
