What the hell has age got to do with it. I'm 91 and still a board member of a public company. I did resign at one stage but was asked by both board members and shareholders to return to the board. Age can bring experience, contacts and other values to the board. In my case I was engaged to put together a prospectus and raise and manage funds for expansion. I see this is happening with SYA right at this time.
When you are 15 you know everything, your parents are dumb. By 25 you begin to have doubts. By 35 you start to realize that your parents actually have something to teach you. It is then that you start to really accumulate knowledge. That never stops unless your brain lets you down and you develop dementure. (I have recently had a brain scan to prove to family members that I am still capable of managing on my own. Last week I also had a driving license test to keep a license.)

Directors at 60s and 76 are probably still young enough and capable. On the other hand, I've seen some very capable teenagers. I also managed a large company when I was 25.
