Can I just clarify one thing... 123 you keep bringing up the new govt's position.

"was the minister's statement his true opinion and will that be the directive he will push for eventually. Did he make a political mistake by making the statement (as opposed to a policy mistake)Perhaps he should have kept his mouth shut but in saying what he said did he let the cat out of the bag."

The government said they had been misinterpreted when the translation was made into English. He apparently did not say that but the translation made it sound that way. This has been cleared up and they have since come to WA of their own accord to consider the prospect of mining. There are no certainties and no guarantee that the Greenland position will change but if it does you won't see these prices again... However, if you are saying that Greenland gov. did say that then please check the gov website where they clarified their position in late June.

"Naalakkersuisut’s – Government of Greenland - uranium policy remains unchanged and NO DECISION has been made so far on regarding the zero-tolerance policy which has been in force since the 1980s.

Naalakkersuisut is well aware that uranium is commonly found in nature. The zero tolerance policy states that it is not permitted to exploit minerals with higher uranium contents than ordinary background radiation. This means that some mining projects cannot be implemented due to high contents of uranium as by-product. However, other mining projects may be implemented within the zero tolerance limit.

Naalakkersuisut wants to take the time necessary to involve citizens in this very important area."

This a quick look at what happened last Autumn (spring 2008 Aust time):
"the country's 39,000 voters have voted in a referendum for self-rule, with 76% approving. In line with this, parliament has given strong support for uranium production as a by-product of rare earths, overturning a 20-year ban. Denmark, which colonised Greenland and almost 30 years ago granted home rule, is expected to maintain influence over foreign policy and defence, while allowing Greenland to take control of revenues from oil, gas and mineral resources.

Kim Kielsen, the raw materials minister, presented parliament with a report on the social and community aspects of uranium mining in Greenland and said that a public information campaign would address local concerns."

A new govt does not suggest progress is not being made...
