"The Labour Court in the City of Sao Sebastiao do Paraiso, in the State of Minas Gerais (Brazil), issued Votorantin Metals with an order to CANCEL and SUSPEND all redundancies / dismissals, of all the affected employees, at its Nickel plant in Fortaleza de Minas, South of the State. The Court also determined the immediate reinstatement of ALL employees affected establishing a daily fine of R$ 10,000.00 Real (approx. A$ 5,000.00) for each employee NOT reinstated, as per the Court order. In his decision, Judge Henoc Piva said that Votorantin Metals did not pursue alternatives for the crisis with its employees, deciding instead to dismiss them all".
