I'll disagree with you on this. Let me ask you this, if people in the inner circle know something and are buying up, how would you know? You would need to join the rush like everyone else once the news is out.
By then they (the insiders) have accumulated a lot at relatively lower prices and they dump after the announcement comes out.
The way you can have some idea of what's going on before it is announced is the chart. They can't hide the increased volumes and the rising RSI as they are accumulating.
The charts are a way of tracking what insiders are doing as well as general increased interest.
Nothing's perfect but I've seen this work first hand a few times now so I'm pretty sure there's something to it.
