In the many Joint Ventures I have been technically involved with there is always some creative tension (competition even lack of respect). Technically there is seldom a clear and risk free path. Economically JV partners seldom have the same finances or growth strategy. Managerially MDs and CEOs are not the shy retiring type (don't ever be fooled by the public personna). Woodside and Chevron tussling over a rig is one recent public display but there are many tense JVs.

Normally though it is private but when one board tries to spill the other board, it is not the everyday JV.

From what I have seen of this JV the two companies are not fighting publically and seem to function (things get done and there has been no litigation threats).

I am sure there are some differences of opinion. Things like flow rates - water coning are more an art than a science as I have detailed in previous posts. How much well/seismic information do you gather before picking drilling sights depends on who conservative each company is (again no right or wrong here).

But I see value in both stocks (for different reasons) and see any tension between the companies as creative.
