The options can be converted to shares by payment of 25c per option before Jan 2010 or traded as options (last trade at 9.8c).

If the share price goes to say 50c by Jan 2010 and you have kept the options, by paying the 25c per share you would then own 50c shares for 25c. If on the other hand the shares by Jan 2010 are only worth 20c, you can allow them to lapse by not paying and will have lost or gained anything unless you bought options.

By trading at the present 9.8c, those buying are betting they will be worth (25c + 9.8c) 35c or more come Jan 2010.
