It certainly is a unique and valuable selling point, no one is keen to accept that their shiny new battery will gradually die over time and need replacing in the next 7 to 15 years. A VRFB could be handed on to the next generation, the ultimate recycling.
Does anyone know about the current costs of a VRFB, it is my understanding that small (under 10 kWh) VRFBs can't compete with the other chemistries on price but their economics really start to stack up in the MWh sizes which isn't what the domestic market is looking for.
Is there potential for small VRFB's to substantially reduce their capital cost and give the L-Ion brigade a shake up or will they remain the domain of the utility companies and large power consumers?
