    I thought it was a great carnival but can't agree with you on "Team Williams." The rules have to be the same for all, and every other operation is required to list the person in charge as the trainer, apart from them. Lloyd doesn't want his name listed officially because of the risk of running into trouble over whether their horses are being run on their merits. For example many distance races this spring had a Williams trained runner highballing out in front several lengths clear of the field. Were all those horses being ridden on their merits? Or were they being ridden as pacemakers for stablemates, either in that race, or to ensure a solid tempo to condition other horses come Melbourne Cup day? So long as Williams isn't listed as the trainer he knows he's a step removed if the stewards ever deign to do their job and ask some questions about team riding.
