Yep I did the same thing - initially I bought VRL because I thought they were cheap (at $1.18). I then noticed the VRLPA shares and was wondering why they were so much cheaper - I found out what the conditions on the prefs what but I could'nt believe the discount they were selling at - I even went to the library for a day and read every artcile on vrl and vrlpa ever written (I went back about 15 years!) and finally decided that there was no logical reason for them to be so cheap and so I sold my vrl and put the money into vrlpa.
