Boggle, you you made my eyes do just that with your calculations. You are slightly out, my friend. Correct me, anyone, if I'm wrong, but here is how I see it:-
If you look back at the announcement, you will see that they are charging AUD 5,550.00 per megalitre! Not $5.00! They confusingly talk about both litres, and cubic metres.
By my calculations, assuming the amount charged per megalitre is scalable, then the company would charge AUD8.4 million to remediate Mt Carrington. This also assumes that the amount of water in Mt Carrington was 80 times that at Agua Forte. (20,000 M3 = 20,000,000 litres, then x 80 = 1,600,000,000 litres) Therefore, A$105,000 x 80 = A$8.4 million - not a bad profit margin, as I doubt that their costs would exceed A$1 million!
Tell me if I have passed my maths exam, cos I couldn't at school!!! Go VTI.
