Dr. Grimmer and Dr. Saravia have developed and patented a lithium extraction process at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
Whether the process developed at KIT is identical to the absorption process of Direct Lithium Extraction used by Vulcan Energy I cannot judge.
Vulcan Energy may have further developed the KIT process.

What is more exciting, is that Dr. Jens Grimmer is an employee of Vulcan Energy and he has valuable experience on the subject of DLE.

Vulcan Energy describes the absorption process in the Technical Update (page 9).

More information about Vulcan Energy's absorption process can be found in the following link:

Quotes: "Pilot plant and laboratory studies, which are informing the DFS, are continuing to successfully demonstrate multi-cycle sorption tests on Upper Rhine Valley geothermal brine using multiple commercially available aluminate-based sorbents, providing commercial optionality for Vulcan." "All sorbents have demonstrated >90% lithium recovery, in line with the assumptions used in the PFS, and consistent with commercial DLE development projects internationally."

It doesn't matter, either, because Dr. Stephan Harrison owns or is involved in several patents.

I expect Vulcan Energy will select the best process in the demonstration plant.
