153 exhibitors and 3537 visitors use the Geotherm event at the Offenburg trade fair to jointly shape the future of the geothermal energy market. The combination of congress and trade fair offered visitors the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information.

With Geotherm, Europe's largest marketplace for geothermal energy has made an appeal to the future orientation of the energy supply. This is the result of a press release from Messe Offenburg. The Vice President of the Federal Association of Geothermal Energy Inga Moeck focused her attention on the enormous heat potential of geothermal energy. By 2045, a heat energy demand for space heating and hot water of 522 TWh is forecast for Germany. Of this, 186 TWh can be generated by geothermal energy. The Federal Association is convinced that a comprehensive energy transition only goes hand in hand with a sustainable heat transition. For example, 42 deep geothermal plants and 440,000 near-surface geothermal systems are currently in use in Germany.

"It was noticeable that the need for personal, analogue exchange was very great. After two years of corona-related interruption, it was an incredible feeling to hold a face-to-face event again," project manager Anja Kurz is quoted as saying in the press release. This year's event was used by 153 exhibitors and 3537 visitors to jointly shape the future of the geothermal energy market. In particular, the combination of congress and trade fair offered visitors the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information. In around 40 lectures, current topics and issues in the industry were discussed.

"The Federal Association of Geothermal Energy and Messe Offenburg have a long-standing, close cooperation. Therefore, we were very pleased that the 30th anniversary of the founding of the association was celebrated at the evening reception," Anja Kurz emphasizes the solidarity. In the evening, State Secretary Andre Baumann made a plea for geothermal energy in front of a sold-out hall, which once again confirmed the positive spirit of optimism in the industry.

As part of the evening reception, the 'Ruggero Bertani - European Geothermal Innovation Award' was presented. Baker Hughes was awarded the industry trophy created by the European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC) for geothermal energy. The award honors outstanding contributions such as innovative products, the application of which makes a sustainable contribution to industry development, according to the statement. In addition to the award winner, The following were nominated in alphabetical order: Celsius Energy (France), Fraunhofer Research Institution for Energy Infrastructures and Geothermal Systems (Germany), Izmir Institute of Technology (Turkey) and Perrymann Technologies Research (France).
