A new detailed report on geothermalenergy and lithium from Deutschlandfunk:

    https://www.deutschlandfunk.de/erdwaerme-geothermie-energiekrise-erneuerbare-waermepumpe-beben-100.html

In the report - since Bavaria is alwayspresented as a model for the Upper Rhine Graben - critical tones:

"The pioneering role of theBavarian municipalities has geological reasons. Beneath the Alpinefoothills, at a depth of two to four kilometres, lies a mightylimestone that is criss-crossed with fissures and cracks. These arekarst cavities - and they carry a lot of thermal water and can bedetected from the earth's surface using geophysical methods. The riskof a borehole going dry is low. It's an exceptional situation - soBavaria is no good as an example for the whole of Germany."

And Prof. Joachim Ritter from KIT onthe earthquake risk and the ever-praised traffic light system:

    "Geothermal energy is notcompletely calculable.

"Are there any examples wherethese traffic lights have worked?" "At the moment, Ihonestly don't know of any." Joachim Ritter is a geophysicist atthe Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. He is sceptical whethernoticeable earthquakes can be reliably prevented with geothermalenergy in the Rhine Graben."

This should make all geothermal plansin the Upper Rhine Graben wastepaper.

And on the subject of lithium:

""We now have small prototypetests. That means you have to scale up the process afterwards andshould actually test these smaller plants over a longer period of atleast over a year. And then you have to scale up the industrialplant. That means that until it really works, I would say from myoutside perspective, you can expect another three years or more untilyou really get into an industrial process."

"Even in the best case scenario, aborehole could not supply lithium forever.

    Bad news for Vulcan ...
