Chancellor Scholz puts the geothermal plant into operation

Chancellor Scholz has put the Schwerin deep geothermal plant into operation. In the future, many households will be supplied with heat from a depth of 1,300 meters - affordable, sustainable and reliable around the clock. The new combined heat and power plant of the Schweriner Stadtwerke was funded with around 4.2 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund.

The federal government is making sure that cities and communities will be able to designate areas for renewable energies such as wind power and photovoltaic systems more easily than before.
