GERMANY PACT FOR GEOTHERMAL ENERGY” – BROAD SUPPORT IN THE BUNDESTAG09/29/23 | NewsIn a groundbreaking plenary debate, the government factions and the opposition agreed to quickly expand the use of geothermal energy.During the plenary session on September 28, 2023, there was great agreement that geothermal energy as an important pillar of the energy and heat transition must be given much greater attention than before.The reason for the debate was themotion for a resolution “Using the potential of geothermal energy – reducing hurdles, minimizing risks, relieving the burden on the electricity sector,” which was introduced by the CDU/CSU parliamentary group.The BVG was able to hold personal discussions in advance with eight of the eleven speakers and present the industry's positions.
With the exception of the AfD parliamentary group, all parties represented in the Bundestag spoke out in favor of expanding geothermal energy.
