Heat and electricity won't make cash, but heat will help a lot to get permission to drill in the first place and Electricity can pay for the drilling (there are some existing standalone geothermal plants in the region) The low Spotmarket price does not concern vulcan for now, there are Offtake agreements in place over the next years at circa 15000€ per tonne.
Once Sodium batteries and Solid State batteries come to market we will need more Lithium per kWh (in the expensive solid state) and no Lithium at all (in the Soduimbatteries). I think green lithium will matter in the expensive cars, vulcan is well positioned for this.
So, low Lithium prices in the next 2 years could delay the introduction of Sodium batteries and the development of other Li mines, it may actually be quite good for vulcan. And if phase 1 is proven before the prices rise again Vulcan can sell its Vulsorb, its drilling services and expertise to other developers in the next cycle.
That said, we still need the financing agreement for phase 1, on this point it is maybe bad to have a low Lithium price.
