That is true, no doubt they do have a challenge.
But there are more and more companies moving in to this space and getting financial backing to crack the code - up until the last year, there has not been the financial and humanitarian drivers to prioritise this tech. Once upon a time it was just Simbol - and how different this space might have been now if the worlds richest crazy man had been successful in buying them back in 2016.
Now we have CTR, Cornish, Vulcan, BHE, Eramut (and more hidden away).
It's important for this to succeed - not just for corporate profits, but for sustainability. I wouldn't bet against it.
