Perhaps it’s time to start running a sweepstakes here on which of its 14 auto brands Stellantis might use as an EV prototype/special build to showcase the first converted batch of lithium produced from Vulcan’s LEOP to power the battery.
Will it be a French marque or an Italian modello or something with a distinctive German heritage like Opel (“...proudly powered by Rhine brine”)?
As can be seen here, special builds are nothing new for Stellantis to mark important occasions and events.
Whatever model they potentially choose, I would hope to see the Vulcan government relations team driving it regularly between Brussels, Berlin, Paris and Rome as they ramp to finance and full production.
My sweepstakes entry is for the Opel Manta GSe ElektroMOD (due for 2024 production) coupled with a “back to the future” type marketing campaign...
...although I’d be equally happy for them to reheat the 2016 Opel GT concept (that never made it to production) but instead electrify & rename it the Opel Vulcan!
