To put your fears at rest, Tesla study every supposed better battery that comes up and there are many, so far they have not found any that are better than the lithium battery although different chemicals may be added to improve the charging rate and cooling etc.
Tesla being a totally dedicated electric car maker is one of the best judges of what battery make up would be the best, that is why they are building a gigafactoy in China to make lithium batteries and cars. Try not to worry,
I have noticed most of the battery changers end the dialog with a comment their battery will be ready in two years time that usually means never.
