Like you, many will be hesitant to break the golden rule on averaging down, (me included), however at current price levels it's hard not to give in to temptation. Another couple of cents downwards and I will have to "top up". (Topping up sounds better than averaging down.) I'm fortunate that the current price is only a few cents below my purchase price.
If, as you say, releasing the JORC ("the Big Boys would want a JORC first to put to the Board,") will open the door to a takeover, then JA may well have purposely delayed releasing it before Christmas. Not that he would admit that.
Takeovers are rarely good for shareholders, and usually favour others. So the longer we can hold out on our own the better for us.
