Lets take a breather here. We can't blame anyone except John Howard for horizontal fiscal equalisation. No one today can change the way GST is distributed. It requires all states and the Commonwealth to agree. States like Tasmania and SA will never agree to anything new. WA just has suck it up for a few years. As for succession, WA will be much worse off financially as all other Federal subsidies will be cut such as welfare, health and education. WA governments expenses will skyrocket as they have to cover defense and all other overheads of a central government.
