Uranium mining is not INSTEAD of coal mining - that's what the dumb politicians keep on wheeling out to the public. It is in ADDITION to coal mining.

The buyers for coal and the buyers for uranium are NOT the same.

Of course, coal-fired power stations will phase out over the next couple of decades anyway, so the coal industry will be up against the wall anyway - but not because of uranium mining.

Once nuclear power is generally accepted - and it will be - then uranium mining will gradually ramp up as coal mining winds down worldwide.

People tend to forget that over 20,000 coal miners in China alone died last year, but how many died mining uranium?

And how many worldwide died of radiation sickness? Maybe a handful at most.

Coal mining - at least in the underground mines - is much more dangerous than uranium mining.
