    MEDIA RELEASE

    Liberal-National Cabinet announced

    18 September 2008

Colin Barnett has announced the composition of the new Liberal-National Government Ministry. (see list below)

The 17-member Cabinet consolidates Mr Barnett’s commitment to good, honest and accountable government and includes WA’s first Minister for Mental Health.

The Cabinet comprises 13 Liberals, three Nationals and one Independent Member of Parliament.

Earlier today, Mr Barnett called on the Governor to inform him that he was in a position to form a government.

Mr Barnett will be sworn in as WA’s 29th Premier on Tuesday, 23 September.

“This is a new and exciting chapter in Western Australia’s political history,” Mr Barnett said.

“Western Australians voted for a change of government and a new way forward. That is what the Liberal-National Government will provide.

“The new Cabinet presents a mix of members with previous Ministerial experience, extensive professional experience in health, education and law and order, as well as youth and talent.

“The new Liberal-National Government will deliver better government and a better state. It will get on with the tough task of getting Western Australia back on track and, through good policy and management, enable more people to see the benefits of the economic boom times.”
