1650,
the WAEC has not put anything on their website that I can find that declares those candidates that have won.
They would know how many ballot papers were issued in each seat now but they haven't said so.
The candidates would know.
With this info the clarity improves.
As best I can see it will end up pretty close to scenario 1 I mentioned in the start of this thread.
that is,
Nats 4
ALP 25
LIBS 26
IND 4
There are a couple of seats that are close but most are pretty clear ( even from trying to do an analysis via the internet)
I did another review tonight and it became more likely that the Independent will win Alfred Cove and the LIBS look more likely to be the winner in Forrestfield.
There are some anomalies that stand out to me.....
Only 43.3% of the vote has been counted in the seat of Kimberley, why?
North West has been predicted as an ALP "retain" but I think it is closer than warranting such classification after having a look at it tonight. Only 57.7% of the vote counted which warrants another query.
Mandurah is a query as well with only 53.5% of the vote counted.
Pilbara there is only 56.1% counted, another query.
The WAEC would know these are mostly remote and should have arranged to service the electors ? Why not?
Maybe the electoral roll has not had a full review? Will be interesting to see what's gone wrong. Even if people live in remote communities they can still be mailed an application for a postal vote. I suspect the haste with which the election was called has had an impact on the WAEC doing their job. Having said that though, all Electoral Commissions know elections can be called early and should be ready for such an occurrence. Sort of like planning to fail if you fail to plan.
The WAEC should be putting on their website live info on those candidates who have received 50% plus one vote of the total number of ballot papers formally issued in each seat. The figures they are showing that give the % of the count is quite misleading. ( It's useful from an analytical perspective like I am doing but to the average person, the more relevant figure is the % a candidate gets progressively of the ballot papers issued).
So, without the info from the WAEC, there are no definite's. Sorry.
