What I also found interesting is that the Waitsia exemption is not a fixed 5 year time duration limit, but a fixed time use or lose limit. Basically, the exemption will lapse at the end of 2028 regardless of when Waitsia starts producing/exporting. I wasn't aware of this. No wonder the market threw a hissy fit when this got delayed again recently. So not only has the cost gone up multiple fold, they now have less time to try and recover it. Don't worry, I am not feeling remotely sorry for BPT cos they will still make a lot of money. However, it does beg the question of whether they could have achieve the same, or perhaps even better, result if they had just produced domestically with a smaller plant of far less complexity and cost.

I also found this really interesting because I believe this is the first public reference to potential reserves at Lockyer I have seen...

Essentially, 250TJ/d for 5 years - assuming same production rate for every day of the year - totals 456PJ. According to Domgas Alliance, there is expected to be 94PJ left after that. So Domgas Alliance believes the Lockyer 2P is 550PJ.
