Well, I will bite J L.
Our leader is correct with his his statements and he is not an idiot, If you are looking for idiots perhaps you should look closer to home.
Take WE gas 93% Methane (CH4) 7% Carbon Dioxide (CO2) = 93CH4molecules 7CO2 molecules
If you burn it (don’t worry about the water produced) without removing any CO2 you get
93CO2 molecules +7CO2 molecules = 100CO2 molecules
If you get the CO2down to 4% at the processing plant there are 3CO2 molecules takenout at the plant.
When you burn it (toproduce the same amount of energy as case 1 I..e. you burn 93 CH4molecules) you get
93CO2 molecules +4CO2 molecules = 97CO2 moleculesThis 97CO2 moleculesplus the 3 released at the plant = 100 CO2 molecules
This means thatunless you use CCS at the plant to remove the 3 moleculesof CO2, you have achieved at great expense, as Stu has pointed out, absolutelyNOTHING.
If you use CCS wherethe methane is burned you get rid of all of the CO2 soonce again you haveachieved absolutely nothing.
If you use CCS wherethe methane is burned but not at the processing plant, you are going backwards.
