I hope the Cook government is looking at the bloody mess here on the east coast to see what happens when you introduce policies that artificially suppresses the price of a commodity (whether it be gas reservation or price cap). It is absolutely ridiculous that we have repeatedly failed to act after multiple previous warnings. Imagine a situation where NSW, VIC, SA and ACT all have to go through gas rationing to make it through the winter season. If the NSW and VIC govts don't lift the restrictions on gas exploration and development soon, we may as well kiss goodbye to the 2 to 3% inflation target because energy prices will be permanently much higher which will bleed through to everything else, and the flow on destructive effect that will have on many industries and households.

I understand the green/emission movement, but some sense of reality and pragmatism never does any harm.
