"Pinto, the event businesses usually pay the council etc for access to the land and as such are permitted to charge entry fees to events that cost time and money to organise."
that's exactly correct - I've no idea why you think you need to describe it to me - I know how it works
knowing 'what' is not the issue here ---------- it's the encroachment on freedom that is the issue
Please don't tell me that Aussies and West Australians value their freedom - Australians don't know what freedom looks like
Aussies haven't a clue
it's why we have had a good flow of the erosion of freedom for decades ------------ all washed away - all gone
once gone ------------ freedoms are a bugger to claw back
As far as the 'event organisers business goes ------------- many overseas countries treat it totally differently -
there is no such elitist group who is a middle man sitting between councils and goods and service providers
some councils have committees who run these things - often with business members sitting on the committees
there is NO need for such things as 'event organisers' in many things where public spaces are used
it puts things wide open for corruption and bribes etc. ------------------- some nations recognise this
Australia of course ------ merely followed the American model where this kind of crap came in not to many decades ago
