WA is different to the Eastern states, the place is Perth centred. Albany, Bunbury and Geraldton are small cities and cute but they lack the amenities of East Coast smaller cities. My view is the smaller WA towns are awful. Poor services, ugly, inbred and bleeding people to the big smoke.
A lot of people have given up visiting these overated areas and jump on a plane and go to Asia, where the sevices, food etc are better. Property wise a lot of theory advocates buying in these areas for cash flow. Yeah sure see how your cash flow goes in areas like Kalgoorlie now or when the only applicant is a welfare recipient with bad tribal connections. There maybe areas where you can make money but do not think WA regional towns are like those of NSW and Vic.
