This thread and its trolls is simply ridiculous:
‘...They will talk with LYC and plead for them to find an alternative solution...’
Anyone who has followed the Lynas LAMP story knows that for years the Board and executives have been working hard to develop Condisoil as a safe and sorely-needed solution to the residue problem for a country that’s highly reliant on its palm oil industry for export revenue, and who’s poor tropical soils MUST have added fertilisers, mostly from untested imported material that has harmful residues, including radioactive elements.
Condisoil has been proven to be completely safe by lengthy Lynas trials, but the December 18 Review Board recommended some minor further testing to further prove safety.
Meanwhile all current LAMP residues are being completely safely housed in professional designed long-term FACILITIES THAT MEET PDF legal requirements. AND Lynas has deposited nearly $50 million as a guarantee of residue safety, in full accordance with its binding contract with the Malaysian Government.
So there is no legal basis for the current maverick Minister’s announcement (unofficial, by social media) that Lynas should export its waste. And it’s instructive that no formal policy announcement on this issue has been made, and Minister Yeo and MESTECC have been completely silent now for months, presumably while they contemplate Lynas’s legal action response.
My conclusion, FWIW, is that political pressure from Japan, and other countries and large industries vitally dependent on LAMP production as an alternative to China’s otherwise world rare earth supply monopoly, will ultimately force the Government to accept PDF storage until Condisoil is finally approved. Because ‘There Is No Alternative’ - TINA!
