Just for the record I am also very doubtful that the drum line exercise will have any real effect. In fact knocking off the large shark every know and then that is sighted in close will probably have little effect.
The facts are that we have allowed these large sharks to breed up in such large numbers that they are consistently in recent times posing a serious threat to human life and the life of whales and dolphins.
Governments liberal and labor over the last 20 or so years have unwittingly created this problem by closing fishing to the sharks breeding and birthing suites and then protected the sharks and then reduced dramatically the amount of professional fishermens long lines and netting units. The perfect recipe for increased shark numbers.
Whats the answer to fixing the problem that various governments have created? Many say do nothing and many say to the government of the day whether it be liberal or labor please take action.
Come on Mr Bond Uni, UWA and the EPA give us a definitive answer that will keep all parties happy.
IMO they are so far behind the 8 ball they wouldn't have a clue.
