..... a canal is the dumbest idea yet, the first terrorist with a truck load of cyanide tailings from a local goldmine will be able to contaminate the city's water supply in about 5 minutes.
Anyway, there's no need to bring water all the way down from the Kimberley, we already have 400 years supply in the desert, much closer to Perth ..... if they want to replenish it, then run a short pipeline from the Kimberley to the northern end of officer basin.
By bringing it in from the desert, they can also generate power, as Kalgoorlie is 360 metres higher than Perth ..... yes, we have been pumping water uphill to Kal for over 100 years ..... maybe, it is time for a change ..... !~!

If WA. doesn't do it, then SA will soon see value in such a scheme, as the water from the Officer Basin is as sweet as mothers' milk ..... !~!
