Hi Africareach, I agree with that thou African leaders often are short sighted and will decide to eat the seed corn or take the golden eggs out of the geese, it does not work for long thou and the military leader would be stepping out of bounds to take over the mines and BF is still ment to return the country to a real sitting president and that person really would then be the deciding factor and credibility to do that. What does work is encouraging foreign investment to build more mines and increase production and the government cut increases, everyone always want a larger share of the pie and I can understand how the Africans feel with foreign companies taking their gold and they only get a small slice 1/4 piece of the pie but that is the only way the gold mining will work over there. The 15% drop in gold output in BF last year the military leader did not like that.

I like WAF because you don't have the same worries as Aussie Goldies being unprofitable, if the African government takes over the mines that is the main risk and that risk can go up and down, Aussie goldies usually the asics just keep increasing and don't keep up with the price of gold. WAF has got a pretty hefty discount and I think the SP is more stable than most of the other goldies so there is downside protection because the stock is still cheap esp with doubling production in 2025.
