Doesnt look liike it was GDXJ rebalance then? 3.6Mill shares were shorted on Friday. It looks like most of those were shorted in the closing auction which would suggest they short sold at the auction to push the price down to $1.145 - doing this in the last few seconds at 4:10 explains the indicated closing price going from $1.155 to $1.145 right at the end. Seems bots fought against each other to push the price lower as they competed on the sell side to offload shares into the closing auction buying demand (dont know who this was but was 14 mill shares), and then right at the end, about 3 mill shares were short sold.
